It is the mission of the religious education program here at Resurrection to support parents and families in the faith formation of our children through prayer, sacramental preparation, doctrine, tradition and fellowship. With over 200 students and 40 volunteers, it is the responsibility of all members of our parish to pass down our faith.
Faith development is a continuous process for all ages. Our K-12 program has many opportunities to work with families on the faith development of their child.
Pre-K thru 5th grades – CLC is held Sundays from 9:30-10:25 a.m. or Wednesdays from 5:45-6:45p.m.
- Preparation for the Sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Reconciliation
-Each religious education class has an opportunity to minister at mass with class
-Vacation Bible School is held the first week of June for grades K-6th
-Advent Evening is held each Advent season for all parishioners.
Middle School CLC classes are held Wednesday from 7:00-8:00p.m.
Middle school opportunities include:
MAD Camp is a 3 day local service camp for those that have completed the 6th, 7th and 8th grades.The youth will build community, learn the aspects of Catholic Social teaching, and reflect on their ability to give back on a local level to answer God's call to service. Camp concludes with an afternoon at Island Oasis, and is held in conjunction with St. Leo's Parish.
Higher Ground Middle School Retreat is a four-day Catholic youth program for those who have completed sixth or seventh grade. This is a diocesan program held usually in August at Camp Norwesca in Chadron. The purpose of the Higher Ground Middle School Retreat is to create an environment where we belong and can invite others to belong. The activities provide and enjoyable opportunity for young people to develop a better sense of self, to build positive relationships with others and to grow closer to God. This event calls participants to deepen their experience of liturgy, prayer, and community interaction.
Going Bananas for Jesus Going Bananas for Jesus is a great way for youth grades 6-12 to make new friends and celebrate their Catholic faith right here in the diocese. The weekend includes keynote speakers, a variety of breakout sessions, music, dancing, prayer, food, fun, fellowship and concludes with the celebration of Eucharist. Going Bananas will be held at GICC April 1st thru 3rd of 2011.
High School
-Classes are held for grades 9-11 Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:00
-Classes are held 8 weeks in the fall and 8 weeks after the first of the year
-Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation begins the second semester of the junior
year of high school.
High School Opportunities:
Young Neighbors in Action (YNIA) provides direct and indirect service opportunities which are meaningful, allowing participants to learn more about social justice issues and see the effect their work has on changing lives. Building relationships and breaking down barriers are an intentional part of the Young Neighbors program.
Higher Ground Higher Ground is a five-day Catholic youth program for those who will be juniors or seniors in high school. The purpose of Higher Ground is to create an environment where Christian community may be experienced. The activities provide an opportunity for the young people to develop a better sense of self, to build positive relationships with others and to grow closer to God.
Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) is an experience in Catholic Christian living, designed especially for young people from juniors in high school to age 23.TEC provides a space to reflect upon your ideals, hopes, dreams, and problems and to discover a God you can believe in, a Christ you can encounter as risen and alive in your midst.
National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) is an exciting, biennial four-day experience of prayer, community, and empowerment for Catholic youth. The schedule includes general and concurrent sessions addressing a wide variety of topics including forgiveness, prayer, Catholic spirituality, global issues, sexuality, and leadership. There are also opportunities for liturgy and special activities. Next conference will be November 2011.
