Health Ministry New Business tab effective Oct 1, 2007
The Health Ministry program has been at Resurrection approximately one and a half years. The program was started with a grant from St. Francis Medical Center in the amount of $20, 464 the first year and $14, 794 this year. The goal is for this parish program to be self-sufficient after 3 years. Following is what has been implemented by Health Ministries. ¨ Monthly blood pressure screenings ¨ Blood mobiles ¨ Yearly health fair ¨ Home visits to elderly and sick ¨ Hospital visits ¨ Dave Ramsey financial course ¨ Growing Up Sexually; 7th grade religious education class ¨ Internet Safety program ¨ CPR instruction for Catechists ¨ Receipt of an automated external defibrillator (AED) ¨ Parish education on health topics through bulletin and bulletin board ¨ Mother/daughter self defense course ¨ YNIA mission trip participant where we gave first aid supplies and offered a dental hygiene class to children.
It takes approximately 10-15 hours a week to accomplish these activities. I would like to do more outreach in our community and beyond. Resurrection has a wealth of people and resources and I hope to continue to grow the health ministry program to reach the needs of our parish and community. Parish Nurse Renee Miller. |
