Higher Ground
Higher Ground is a five-day Catholic youth program for those who will be juniors or seniors in high school. This program is sponsored by the Diocese of Grand Island Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry and directed by Kevin Fuller with Fr. Matt Koperksi as Spiritual Director.

The purpose of Higher Ground is to create an environment where Christian community may be experienced. The activities provide an enjoyable opportunity for the young people to develop a better sense of self, to build positive relationships with others and to grow closer to God.

At Higher Ground, 20-40 participants and 10 adult staff, gather in an informal atmosphere to have a lot of fun and build relationships of trust. The group is encouraged to experience the joy of playing, praying and working together as a community of faith.

The week begins at 7 p.m. MDT, Sunday and ends at 11 a.m. the following Friday. The program runs three successive weeks, beginning the last week in May (Memorial Day Weekend) at Ft. Robinson, near Crawford, NE.

The cost of the week is $150. The round-trip bus fare is $50. Financial assistance is available.

Each week, a bus travels round-trip between Grand Island and Crawford, stopping along Highway 2.

Contact Michalene Iversen if you have questions, need additional information, or need financial assistance. Information on Higher Ground II and Higher Ground College Retreat can also be found on the website below.
