GOSPEL REFLECTION:
Theme: The cross is a way that leads to true life.
Jesus gives us the core truth of life and eternal happiness—the cross. Name the cross that you carry. How is it bringing you closer to God? In order to follow Jesus, we have to do hard things, to carry our own crosses. Jesus tells us that we each are called to follow Him. What is hard for you to do to follow Jesus?
STEWARDSHIP: Jesus calls us, as His disciples, to a new way of life—the Christian way of life—of which stewardship is part. But Jesus does not call us as nameless people in a faceless crowd. He calls us individually, by name. Each one of us—clergy, religious, lay person; married, single; adult, child—has a personal vocation. God intends each one of us to play a unique role in carrying out the divine plan. The challenge, then, is to understand our role—our vocation—and to respond generously to this call from God. Christian vocation entails the practice of stewardship. In addition, Christ calls each of us to be stewards of our personal vocation, which we receive from God.
STEPHEN MINISTRY INFORMATION SESSIONS: Stephen Ministry information meetings will be held Wednesday, September 10th, at 7:00 PM and Monday, September 15th, at 7:00 PM. This is an opportunity for those interested in Stephen Ministry either as caregivers, care receivers, or Stephen Ministry in general. A note of special interest: a new training class will begin this fall. This, then, will be of special interest for those considering the call to be Stephen Ministers. Please mark your calendars!!

Please note October 3 and 4 as additional picture taking opportunities. Only on-line registration will be accepted. Again, this is a chance for our parish to come to know each other. Let us then make the most of this opportunity.
LOOKING FOR PICTURES: The Directory Committee is seeking any pictures from parish events over the past several years to include in the Church Directory. These could include Advent Evening, Vacation Bible School, Firework Stands, Pancake Feeds, Parish Picnic, Hayrack Rides, Bloodmobile Drives, Altar Society, Knights of Columbus and Youth Events – any event in the parish. In what way is this the mission of the Church? How does this reflect the proclamation of the Gospel? What are the many signs we have been made different as disciples of Jesus? What does this mean for us here at Resurrection? Beginning to make these connections we are thus ready to live the gift of faith in the future. Please come to explore, to learn, and to pray.

They provide services for families of domestic violence and sexual assault and range from a 24-hour Crisis Line to three shelters in the community and many other services in between. The Crisis Center is excited to announce their second annual fundraiser, along with an awareness event called “Safe Shelters Make Cents”. The agency is asking for a special offering on September 6 & 7. For one client to stay in the safe shelter for one day and receive three meals, it only costs $8.00. Breaking it down, a victim can sleep in a warm and safe bed for one night for only $6.74 a day, while a client can eat three good meals for only $1.26. Every dollar they receive goes a long way. So, make a change with your dollar!!
