Church of the Resurrection

  • Catholics Encounter Christ (CEC)

Take a Christian or a handful of Christians who, in the midst of their own community, show their capacity for understanding and acceptance, their sharing of life and destiny with other people, their solidarity with efforts of all for whatever is noble and good. Let us suppose that, in addition they radiate in an altogether simple and unaffected way their faith in values that go beyond current values, and their hope in something that is not seen and that one would not dare to imagine. Through this wordless witness these Christians stir up irresistible questions in the hearts of those who see how they live: Why are they like this? Why do they live in this way? What or who is it that inspires them? Why are they in our midst? Such a witness is already a silent proclamation of the Good News and a very powerful and effective one."
-Pope Paul VI's Apostolic Exhortation on Evangelization in the Modern World.

Mission
The Catholics Encounter Christ movement strengthens our individual relationships with Christ on an ongoing basis and shares the grace of Jesus' love with others through our word, deed, and action.

Purpose
Bring men and women to know and love Christ in order to build the kingdom of God on Earth.

Provide a method of Christian formation and evangelization helping people become more committed to Christ and His Church.

Call the members to make a commitment to Christ by:

  1. Directing their whole life to God.
  2. Taking the Christian ideal as the ideal for their life.
  3. Revitalizing the Church community by helping Christians identify their God-given gifts in answering God's call to apostolic service.
  4. Drawing others to Christ.
  5. Building Christian community in families, neighborhoods, work situations and other places where people live the greater part of their lives.
