ROSARY OFFERINGS: The rosary is said each Sunday at 8:00 AM for our “For All Generations” campaign and for all intentions of our parish family. Everyone welcome to come and pray.


SCHOOL SUPPLIES NEEDED: These are needed for the St. Lucia nursing home, St. Vincent orphanage, and Haiti water project. Please consider picking up an extra box of crayons, markers, pencils, etc. as you buy supplies for school. Drop off supplies in the box at the west entrance in the classroom area. THANK YOU!!!!!


PLEASE SAVE BEST CHOICE UPC’S! Our Altar Society is collecting these UPC’s as a way to raise money and awareness of their project to dig wells in Third World Countries such as our twinning parish, Haiti, as water is a precious resource. Please save them and place them in the container provided in the church kitchen. This is a very easy and inexpensive way to help.


DAILY ROSARY: The rosary is recited daily before the 7:00 AM Mass, around 6:30 AM. Everyone is welcome to come and start your day off with praying to Mary.


ADULT STUDY/CLASSES: There has been some interest expressed in setting up a time to present the “Catholicism” series for those who are not able to participate in the Wednesday groups. Please sign up in the church foyer beginning in mid-August with a preference to day. Wednesday groups study will begin October 8th. We will finish the last 3 chapters of “Catholicism”. Look for information on the next study in August. Also, if anyone is interested in starting up a small group or book club, please contact Michalene Iversen at 308 382-5639 or Geri Zaruba at 308 583-6776 for suggestions on materials.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK: I will be away from the parish from Sunday, October 5th until Wednesday, October 8th. I will be attending the International Stewardship Conference in Orlando, Florida. CHAIR YOGA: Tracy Noble of our parish will again be teaching a Chair Yoga class beginning Wednesday, October 8, 10:15 to 11:00 AM. This is open to anyone in the parish who would like to do some great stretching exercise to help our bodies stay fit and to work to our balance. Just come and have some fun. A free-will offering will be collected. You don’t have to bring any equipment.


SCRIPTURE-SACRAMENT-TRADITION: Everyone is welcome to join the adult enrichment study beginning this Wednesday, October 8th. The schedule for the year is in the foyer. The morning study begins at 8:45 AM with prayer and share. Study will begin promptly at 9:00 AM and last about an hour. The night study will begin at 7:00 PM.


SPAGHETTI FEED: Our Altar Society, along with the Knights of Columbus, will be sponsoring an all-you-can-eat spaghetti feed on Saturday, October 11th, from 4:30 to 7 PM. Menu includes three sauces, garlic bread, salad, and brownie sundae. Cost is $4 for children ten and under, $6 for adults, $5 for seniors (65), children 3 and under free, and $30 family (parent and child). Proceeds from this event will be used to help with cost of new altar linens. Mark your calendars for this great event.

Directions are simple and will be given in writing. Families of First Communicants: If anyone in your family, i.e. grandmas, aunts, etc. would like to make a Prayer Shawl for their First Communicant, let Therese or Joyce know and directions and information will be sent. They will be acknowledged on Prayer Shawl Sunday as having made it.


WISH LIST FOR ST. LUCIA/ST. VINCENT: Here is your opportunity to help the people of St. Lucia and St. Vincent by purchasing items from their wish list that they have given us. You can pick the Post It notes off the bulletin board in the foyer of the church and purchase the items listed. Please place them in the Parish Nurse office back by the classrooms. We are so take monetary donations to be used to do the projects we will be doing while we are there. These donations can be given directly to Pat in the office. Donations need to be collected by October 26th. Thank you in advance for your generosity!!! ‘I tell you the truth, just as you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of mine, you did it for me.’ Matthew 25:40


KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS TOOTSIE ROLL DRIVE: Donations will be taken up after all the Masses the weekend of October 11th & 12th. They need help to staff the drive at Sam’s that weekend. Call Mike Follmer 308 384-6876.


ALTAR SOCIETY NEWS: In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Altar Society will be hosting a guest speaker for their October meeting. The meeting will be held on Monday, October 13th, at 7:00 PM in the parish hall. One of Resurrection’s own members, Jane Miller, will talk about breast cancer awareness and how you can help yourself in early detection and prevention. Educational materials will be available for you. The presentation will last approximately 45 minutes and will be followed by our month Altar Society meeting. We invite you all to stay for the short business meeting. The evening will be full of fun and fellowship with door prizes and giveaways. Dessert will be served for everyone to enjoy during the presentation. Hope to see you there!!


MANY THANKS to all those you helped with the Junk Jaunt. Over $3,100.00 was made. When you consider most items were priced from 25 to 50 cents, that was a lot of “junk”!!! All items which did not sell were donated to the Goodwill.


RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS WEEK – OCTOBER 5TH THROUGH 11TH: Please consider doing something special, surprising, loving, caring for someone this week. It will make their day!!!!


OCTOBER IS HERE – TIME TO PREPARE FOR PUMPKIN SALES!!! The Altar Society is looking for some fun people to work together and paint/decorate pumpkins for our sales starting October 12th. Proceeds from the sales will be given to the For All Generations campaign. We will start decorating pumpkins Sunday, October 5th, from 6:30ish to 8:30ish PM. We can schedule more dates at that time. Call Ellen May at 384-6063 if you would like to be a part of a fun and creative activity.


RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY – THIS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5TH: “Life Chain 2014” is standing publicly and praying to end abortion and to honor the 56 million lives lost. Meet between 13th and State Street on Webb Road from 2-3:30 PM this Sunday. Signs available starting at 1:45 PM at 1333 N. Webb and 1831 N. Webb.
The purpose of the Life Chain is to provide a strong visual statement of solidarity. Feel free to bring chairs and strollers. For information call 384-8032.


CAMPAIGN FOR CAMILLE’S CUPBOARD: St. Mary’s Christian Service is having this event in October in honor and memory of Camille Glaze for whom the Cathedral’s food pantry in named. HyVee, SkagWay, and Super Saver are graciously allowing them to have a food drive in their stores on October 9, 10 and 11. There will be containers in each store named “Campaign for Camille’s Cupboard”. Needed are all non-perishable foods such as cereal, pasta and sauce, soup, fruit, etc. Thank you for your support!!!

What's New?

VISIT TO THE SCARECROW PATCH! Join us on Sunday, October 12th from 3-7:00 PM. Cost is $3.00 per person which includes a hotdog, drink, chips, smores and a small pumpkin. This is a parish-wide event!! There are lots of activities. Come to have a great time!!! Call Sharon Hernandez 308 258-1452 with any questions.


TOMATOES NEEDED: We are in need of tomatoes for the spaghetti feed. If you can help, please peel and quarter in gallon bags and leave in the upright freezer in the kitchen or bring to the Junk Jaunt on Friday or Saturday, September 26 or 27.


ALTAR SERVER TRAINING:

Any students in grades 5 and up who wish to become altar servers, please come to training on the following Sunday mornings:

  • October 5, 12, 19 and 26. 
  • This training will begin immediately after the 8:30 AM Mass.

    Our purpose is to storm heaven with prayers for any given cause. Anyone may request prayers for an illness, surgery, family problems, or any crisis. It is not restricted to Prayer Chain members. Members pay daily for all the requests. Anyone wishing to request prayers may contact Joyce Borgmann at jkborg4@gmail.com. If you would like to join the Prayer Chain and pray with the other members, please let Joyce know.
