Fair Trade coffee, chocolate and a small selection of gift items are now available in the gift shop. Supporting Fair Trade supports farmers and artisans in developing countries in a number of ways, but most importantly, it gives them dignity and hope.


ROSARY OFFERINGS: The rosary is said each Sunday at 8:00 AM for our “For All Generations” campaign and for all intentions of our parish family. Everyone welcome to come and pray.


DAILY ROSARY: The rosary is recited daily before the 7:00 AM Mass, around 6:30 AM. Everyone is welcome to come and start your day off with praying to Mary.


ADULT STUDY/CLASSES: There has been some interest expressed in setting up a time to present the “Catholicism” series for those who are not able to participate in the Wednesday groups. Please sign up in the church foyer beginning in mid-August with a preference to day. Wednesday groups study will begin October 8th. We will finish the last 3 chapters of “Catholicism”. Look for information on the next study in August. Also, if anyone is interested in starting up a small group or book club, please contact Michalene Iversen at 308 382-5639 or Geri Zaruba at 308 583-6776 for suggestions on materials.

Please feel free to introduce yourselves, or call our church secretary, Patricia Janulewicz, at 382-8644 M, T, F 8a-12p, to arrange to learn more about the services our parish provides, or ways that you can become involved.


SCHOOL SUPPLIES NEEDED: These are needed for the St. Lucia nursing home, St. Vincent orphanage, and Haiti water project. Please consider picking up an extra box of crayons, markers, pencils, etc. as you buy supplies for school. Drop off supplies in the box at the west entrance in the classroom area. THANK YOU!!!!!


MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR SEPTEMBERFEST 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Church on September 21st from 11 AM to 2 PM. Dinner includes smoked roast beef and chicken, creamy potatoes, green beans, salad, dinner rolls, desserts and drinks. Also included in the days’ events will be a raffle, which includes big cash prizes and dozens of other prizes. There will be games for young and old, a silent auction, and quilt raffle. Plan to attend this special event!!


HUSKER HARVEST DAYS ARE COMING UP SOON! Central Catholic will again have 4 food stands and will be needing lots of help to set up, clean, work the stands, make phone calls, and tear down. Parents, students, grandparents, alumni, Knights, faculty, parishioners and friends are needed. If you can work, call Sue Pirnie 308 390-0876, Jeannee Mueller-Fossberg 308 379-2015, or Roger Riesberg 308 382-6314. If you would like to donate onions or green peppers, you can leave them at the school office. Huskers Harvest Days are September 9, 10 & 11. This is one of the biggest fundraisers for Central Catholic. Any and all help will truly be appreciated!


BECOME A HOSPICE VOLUNTEER: Hospice Volunteer Training will begin in September with HealthConnect at Home – St. Francis Hospice. Please call Lisa Anderson for more information at 308 398-2600 or email her at landerson@healthconnectathome.org.


2014 PRO-LIFE BANQUET: Please mark your calendar for Sunday, October 5th. Speaker will be Cathy Ruse, legal counsel for the Family Research Council. Her topic will be “How the Hobby Lobby decision affects our religious freedom”. Watch for more information in future bulletins.


PLEASE NOTE! Now that the parish Rummage Sale is over,
we are again gearing up for the Junk Jaunt. It is September 26th-28th, 2014. Please leave your items in the basement of the Church. We will be taking anything worth selling – gently-used clothing will also be accepted. We will have to have a lot of “Junk” to match last year! If you have items that you need help with, please call Norine Munoz at 381-8675. Also, if you would like to have a booth and sell your own items, we will again be doing this. More information will be coming as we get closer.

ATTENTION EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS: You can pick up a copy of the guidelines for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion in the sacristy of the Church. This is a helpful pamphlet on the proper guidelines for this great ministry. Please stop by for your copy!

PLEASE SAVE BEST CHOICE UPC’S!
Our Altar Society is collecting these UPC’s as a way to raise money and awareness of their project to dig wells in Third World Countries such as our twinning parish, Haiti, as water is a precious resource. Please save them and place them in the container provided in the church kitchen. This is a very easy and inexpensive way to help.

    Our purpose is to storm heaven with prayers for any given cause. Anyone may request prayers for an illness, surgery, family problems, or any crisis. It is not restricted to Prayer Chain members.
